What makes your water special?

All natural waters are special, and no two are the same. And this is what we celebrate.

We select and source great natural mineral and spring water that you wouldn’t otherwise come across day to day or for factors such as its unique mineral composition and low or no nitrates.

What makes water, artesian?

Water is called artesian when it comes from a deep underground aquifer — a natural layer of rock or sand that holds water under pressure.

When a well is drilled into this aquifer, the pressure is so strong that the water naturally rises toward the surface on its own, without needing to be pumped.

This natural pressure is what makes it artesian. It also means the water is typically well-filtered, pure, and mineral-rich — protected deep underground until it’s drawn.

How is artesian water different from other bottled mineral or spring water?

Other bottled waters — like mineral or spring water — also come from underground sources, but they usually don’t flow under natural pressure. and come from the bottom of the earth's topsoil layer, just before the subterranean rock starts. Many need to be pumped to the surface, and the mineral content can vary depending on the source.

Nitrate content can also vary depending on external factors that impact the soil such as agriculture, industry or water tables that draw water from the sea.

So in short:

Artesian water = naturally rising, deeply protected, pure and balanced.

Other waters = may require pumping, and vary in purity or mineral levels.

What are nitrates?

Nitrates in water are compounds of nitrogen and oxygen that occur naturally and from human activities such as agricultural fertilizer use or industrial.

Rainfall washes these nitrates into rivers, lakes, and groundwater, making them a common contaminant in private wells and public water supplies.

Sources of Nitrates in Water

  • Natural Sources: Nitrates are formed naturally from the decay of plant matter and animal waste.
  • Agricultural Runoff: The most significant man-made source is nitrogen-based fertilizers used in farming, which are washed into water bodies by rain.
  • Septic Systems: Liquid waste from septic systems can also contribute to nitrate contamination in groundwater.
  • Wastewater: Improperly treated wastewater can also deposit nitrogen into water sources.

Where can i find the batch number & best before dates on products?

The best before dates and batch numbers are usually on the neck of each bottle, in any case the label will state where this date usually is.

Bottled Mineral and spring water will last unopened for upto 3 years in glass bottles, 2 years in plastic bottles.

As a retail company, what do you do to help reduce the environmental impact of the products that you sell?

We prefer to work with suppliers that are taking an active, responsible approach to its environmental efforts and actively work to reduce the environmental impact that manufacturing can have.

Examples of action and measures taken by suppliers can include:

  • Using packaging that is recyclable
  • Reducing print coverage on packaging
  • Producing bottles on site rather than have them driven to the site from great distances
  • Replacing outer plastic packaging with cardboard, significantly reducing the use of plastic
  • Environmental stewardship in the form of replanting of woodland and native fruit orchids
  • Utilising reed beds to return excess water on site from buildings and carpark to local streams

We also re-use card board packaging boxes as filling to secure products that we ship, instead for instance use of plastic air sacs or bubble wrap.

Are all of your products recyclable?

Yes, thankfully ALL of the products that we sell are recyclable.

The best way to recycle your plastic bottles is by removing the cap and using recycling bins provided by your local authority.

Bottles are usually granulated and recycled into new recycled plastic products.

Glass is also broken down and used to create recycled glass products.

How do I pick a good water?

All natural waters are good in our opinion, what sets them apart are a few factors, namely;

Wording.

It is important to note that the words 'Spring' and 'Mineral' are controlled words, this means that they are legally protected. Only brands that meet this criteria can use these words.

Mineral Analysis

Mineral Analysis is dependent on the geology of where the water is situated. The more the total mineral level (aka TDS) The more the taste or, mouth feel.

Ultimately, its a question of preference, just look out for buzz words that are not legally protected.
